Rector's Ramblings The Thoughts of Reverend Mary Dawson |
Rector's Ramblings I'm just settling down to one of the hardest jobs I have to do each month - writing this bit for the Gazette. (The editor will confirm that she always to "nag" me for it!). I don't know why it's so hard. I write sermons or talks a couple of times most weeks. I write letters galore and yet writing two or three hundred words as Rector's Ramblings is a job which seems as hard as climbing Everest - well it feels that way at the moment! Maybe you have jobs which you find hard too. Cleaning the oven, taking the rubbish out or filling in an income tax form are tasks which leap to mind. But there can also be less tangible things which are hard to do. Visiting an elderly relative or someone recently bereaved isn't easy. Saying sorry can be one of the most difficult things to do. Lent starts on March 1st and Lent is traditionally the church's time for spiritual spring cleaning. It could be that sorting out a few relationships by saying sorry, or telephoning or visiting wouldn't come amiss in your life. Wouldn't it be great to crack an Easter egg and at the same time realise you've cracked a problem too! What a way to celebrate Christ's resurrection! And remember, I've finished this piece which I found hard and I now feel wonderful. Tackling some of those little problems in your life might bring benefits to you too!
